Chamber of commerce and industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) incorporated on 20th July 1000 as limited company under companies act in SriLanka and currently having 300 members in diverse sectors like construction, information technology, hotel and tourism, light engineering, manufacturing, service sector, engineering workshops, farming etc

The main objective of the  chamber is to  promote advance, develop, safeguard, assist protect the trade, manufactures, commerce  industries in SriLanka particularly in Jaffna district and to undertake  all measures  to ensure and protect them in the national level

During the last ten months , chamber conducted several program to boost the industrial activities in Jaffna district , the important events are 1) Conducted the Jaffna international trade fair in January 2011  2)sent 20 members  as the visitors to the Canton trade fair in China

The CCIY is presently implementing a special program for the disadvantaged youths called as the youth business Jaffna program in the Jaffna district since 2010. This program supports youth to start a business through provision of concessionary credit facilities and an associating a mature and experienced individual who provide volunteer mentor support
